From the Rabbi

Over the years, our
rabbi has shared his thoughts on a number of topics. We've
collected several of his articles here for your
education and encouragement. Come, walk with the Rabbi, and learn
more about Emmanuel, and how we live. Please
Ask The Rabbi if
you have any questions or thoughts on these topics.
They come around every Fall. Some thoughts on how to
prepare our hearts during the long, dry summer.
Why do we call only Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur "High
Holy Days"? What makes the High Holy Days so high? Aren't
the other holy days and fast days just as significant?
In the Winter of 2002, we were all still thinking about
Osama, and the devestation of the World Trade Center towers.
The rabbi draws some interesting parallels between the
past and the present. Still very relevant, despite the
passage of time since 9/11/2001.
Passover is a holy day with which we're all familiar.
Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur—the High Holydays—get
a lot of our attention. And Chanukah, with its gift-giving
and candle-lighting, is a time we enjoy and observe. But
Purim doesn't demand a lot of our interest. Why?
In a festival so jam-packed with significance, it seems
we can always find one more important thing about this day.
See what else our rabbi brings out—you probably
haven't heard this one before.
Yeshua did many things in his celebration of Passover
that are not mentioned in the Torah. Why? What is the
significance of these extra-Biblical additions?
The Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) speaks of a final regathering
of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel. Are we living
on the "end of days", when this is destined to occur?
Messianic Judaism has a lot to offer to both the
traditional churches, and the traditional Jewish community.
This article shares some ideas on how that can work.
The Messianic Action Committee (MAC) led the fight
against two proposed laws meant to make
Messianic Judaism illegal in Israel, and both of these
proposals failed to become law in the land. Now, the MAC
(under the name "Action Committee for Messianic Judaism"
in Hebrew) has been oficially recognized as an Israeli
not-for-profit organization. This means that the government
of Israel now officially recognizes Messianic Judaism!
